For the first time, the Quimper Museum of Fine Arts and the Pont-Aven Museum are joining forces to present the work of the artist in a new way. by the American photographer Vivian Maier. Self-portraits at the Pont-Aven Museum, street scenes at the Musée des Beaux-Arts, come Discover the work of Vivian Maier through these two complementary exhibitions of nearly 250 photographs.

The self-portrait, a recurrent subject for Vivian Maier and never explored in France in its entirety, is in the spotlight at the Musée de Pont-Aven. By splitting herself into two, she subtly combines the play of shadows and mirrors, of reflection(s) on herself, handling angles, details, light and framing with great skill.

Born in New York in 1926, Vivai Maier practised throughout her career.
At the heart of Vivian Maier's preoccupations are the street scenes of New York and Chicago: she immortalizes in a fraction of a second snapshots of the lives of complete strangers, anonymous people with whom she shares a common destiny and humanity. Gestures, details, a look, a situation, nothing escapes her Rolleiflex which allows her to remain discreet. This exhibition will take you through the evolution of American society in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
