Clean in the Middle Ages? Everyone to the bath!
Even today, the Middle Ages still have a bad reputation when it comes to hygiene and body care. People talk about a filthy society with questionable hygiene! The reality is quite different! Since Antiquity, we have known about "baths", "steam rooms" and latrines. The "Bains de la Reine" in Guémené-sur-Scorff, a medieval steam room built around 1380 by Jean I de Rohan, has all the characteristics of a sauna and hammam. This private facility, set in a scenography dedicated to hygiene and cosmetics in the Middle Ages, will help you to reconcile these preconceived ideas.
